Suction excavator market growing rapidly
More and more civil engineering companies are recognizing the advantages of an MTS suction excavator from the DINO series – and the possibilities that these flexible vehicles offer. They often open up completely new areas of business.
At the latest when the excavator driver has cut the first electrical cable in line construction, civil engineering contractors start to do the math. If all goes well, the damage is quickly repaired. In the worst case scenario, an entire distribution network will fail and the damage will add up to a sum in the high five figures.
From insider tip to game changer
Fifteen years ago, suction excavators from the MTS Mobile Tiefbau Saugsysteme GmbH were still an insider tip, but today they are game changers for many civil engineering companies.
“The speed with which our suction excavators in the DINO fleet pay off,” says Norbert Philipp, General Sales Manager at MTS, “that becomes clear the first time they’re used.”
They do not restrict companies to using certain types of trucks. “We install the suction excavator on any truck, be it a Scania, Volvo, Mercedes, IVECO, MAN or Renault and adjust the model and truck size to customer requirements.”
Suctioning instead of manual digging
When it comes to exposing sensitive infrastructure, such as electrical or fiber optic cables, for example, a construction company with an excavator often only has manual digging as an option to prevent broken cables or lines. You have completely different possibilities here with a truck from the MTS DINO series. The compressed air lance loosens the soil first and the excavated material is suctioned directly into the integrated container through the suction pipe.
Depending on the model and approval, container volumes of 3.5 to 12 m³ provide sufficient space for direct removal.
Avoid damage through gentle suction
The MTS power arm is extremely stable and articulated and can be pivoted through 180°. The suction pipe has a hydraulic rotating device, whose working modes can be individually selected. Depending on the strength of the material, the optimum suction efficiency is achieved by continuous rotation or oscillation of the suction pipe. The suction power of even the smallest model, the DINO CITY with a 2-axle carrier vehicle, is on par with the market average. When using a DINO with a Power+ MTS twin fan, operators can even cover suction distances of over 140 m and thus come close to the suction power of the triple fans. While an MTS DINO powerfully sucks rocks up to 25 cm in diameter, soil or mud, it protects the lines to be exposed. The entire operation is completed up to 16 times faster than with manual digging.
Flexible application options expand the range of services
Many an MTS customer has gradually expanded their range of services thanks to the suction excavator’s wide range of application options: It is just one small step from exposing lines and pipes, to collecting and disposing of demolition material, and suctioning gravel from flat roofs.
Select the truck carrier vehicle you want
As flexible as the suction excavators are in use, they can be tailored to MTS customers’ requests and applications on the truck. “It is also important to our customers that they can choose the brand of their carrier vehicle themselves,” says Norbert Philipp. “Whether it’s MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Scania or another brand – we make it possible.”
The fact that the insider tip of suction excavators has now become a rapidly growing market is demonstrated by the approximately 1900 suction systems from MTS that are now in use all over the world.
